We’re in the Outer Banks for an end-of-summer family vacation. All six of us: we managed to work in two weeks between end of summer jobs, beginning of college classes for my oldest two.
Three or four years ago, I wouldn’t have imagined that having all my children within arm’s reach, at the same time, would be such a fleeting, gossamer state.
Just back from dinner. They all walk faster than I do, now.

Thank you for giving perspective to this mom of babies (6, 4, 2, 11 mo.). The days are long but the years are short.
I remember when your daughter was born . . . it sometimes feels like a ‘mom club,’ growing up together (across the cyberspaces) in mommyhood as our children grow out of childhood. sigh.
I was just having a conversation about this with my boys’ Scoutmaster yesterday coming home from a campout. It’s bittersweet having all my kids starting to forge their own paths in life. I love seeing the different paths they are on, but I miss the days when we were all a unit, and did everything together.
May I ask who the extra person is? I thought you had 3 boys (ahem, young men) and a girl?
