That is so cool! The concept of a gap year is what gives me comfort when I think of my two boys who are on the young end of the spectrum for their grade and will not be 18 until the summer they graduate high school. Sending a 17/18 yo boy off to a dorm and expecting him to study and act maturely seems like the height of insanity/naivety to me.
It looks like he is having a memorable time!
Thank you so much, Susan! Those are awesome pictures!
I have to say that my favorite of the set is the last photo.
What a great, funny photo. LOVE it!
My 3 yr old spends much of the day pretending to be a monkey. He was standing beside me when I clicked on this page from your other blog and thinks these pictures are about the coolest things ever.
Love that last photo especially! Funny.
The gap year is such a great idea. I went to college–W&M!–when I was 17, and I do think it was a bit young. I wish I’d thought of deferred admission and doing something else for a year, but it was go-go-go-go for me back then.
Of course–my grandmother went to college at 16 and graduated at 19! But, times were different in the 1930s!
Africa is life-changing, at least it is if you go when you’re young. Good luck, Chris! You’re on an amazing journey.
Just to get an idea of the SIZE of these things, Google “sausage fruit,” then click on images. They are HUGE!
No wonder there’s a sign. They’re lethal.
