I was just getting going on the second draft and finding some kind of momentum when I GOT THE FLU.

I haven’t had the flu (the real thing) in eleven years. Well, this is it. (My cousin, who’s a nurse, says, “You always think you’ve had the flu until you REALLY have it. And then you think…Oh. So THIS is the flu.”)

AGGHHH.

Will post again when I’m not delirious/dead.

    I’m so sorry….
This happened to me a couple of years ago. I just couldn’t believe that I couldn’t “boot-strap” myself out of bed.
    I’m so sorry.
I’m praying for you here in Jersey…
…and trying not to giggle over your picture…. 🙂
Seriously though – sending good will your way!
I hope you make a REALLY quick recovery.
    Peace,
    Janice

Giggle away. You’ve got to have a sense of humor, or else you won’t survive. 🙂

I hope you feel better soon. the real flu is so miserable, isn’t it?

Oh, and what your cousin said is true about labor too: you can wonder if you’re in labor, but once the real thing starts and then you *know* you’re in labor. 🙂

Oh no! So sorry you’re sick. I got the flu oh, 16 or 17 years ago on Christmas. There’s an entire day that I don’t recall. I hope you get better very very soon! It’s flaring up like crazy around my state, so I’ve been wondering if this is the year I’ll get hit with it again. Will be praying for a quick recovery for you. 🙂

Your cousin said it well. I last had it nine years ago. I went from, “I think I might be coming down with something,” to miserably sick in a matter of about ten minutes.

    Get well soon!

Oooohh . . . so sorry. You must be miserable. Deadline, shmeadline. In the words of Count Rogin to Prince Humperdink (Princess Bride), “Get your rest. If you haven’t got your health, you haven’t got anything.”

I am so sorry! I hope you feel better soon. My prayers are with you. Get plenty of rest and be careful not to overdue it….there is a terrible relapse occurring where I live.

And here was I was just thinking, “maybe it’s no big deal that i never got around to getting that shot this year.” Now a LOT of people seem to be getting it! Hang in there. Rest and fluids and all that. Long showers too, if you can. And a few hours of daytime TV will make you want to feel better that much faster………….

    1. Rest. 2. Hot fluids (herbal tea, broth, tea with honey & lemon). 3. Humidifier. 4. Extra pillows or sleep sitting up (to minimize coughing). 5. Ibuprofen for fever and body aches/chills. 6. Get your family and friends to pray for you!

(I know, your dad is a doctor. But remember to rest! Praying for you in New Jersey!)

So sorry you don’t feel well! When I got hit with it this week, I decided to call it “God’s Little Diet Plan.” That’s the only plus side! Feel better soon and rest up.

My bout with The Real Flu was several years ago…it changes a person!

You talk about The Flu almost in a whisper, after that, and feel compelled to point out, when someone refers to a virus they had for a few days as the flu, that The Real Flu involves *prostration* as a symptom.

    I’m so, so sorry.

    I hope it’s over soon. :o(

Misery loves company! As I was stuck home this weekend with the FLU while my husband and boys went out of town to a baseball tournament, I spent the weekend updating myself on The Well-Trained Mind. As I realized that I now need to move all my bookmarks from the grammar to the logic stage, my heart started to pound. Can I still do this? Am I crazy? In the moment of panic I thought, “l’ll go to Susan’s blog and get inspired.” The picture was all I needed!! I’m good to go. God has a funny way of inspiring me.

    Get better,
    Karen Hein
P.S. You may or may not remember me….I’m the shy, quiet, demure recipient of The Lord of the Rings Leather-Bound Trilogy from your Roseville, Ca seminar in September!!!
